There is a wildlife refuge In Wynnewood, Oklahoma which is home to a wide variety of animals. This home is called the Greater Wynnewood Exotic Animal Park. Founded in 1997, the park spans 16 acres and is home to 1400 animals from 128 different species.
One of the animals living at the refuge is Bonedigger, a big and fierce lion. Among the more commonly found animals include a number of stray dogs, particularly Dachshunds. A disabled lion born with a metabolic bone disease that left him mildly crippled has formed an unlikely and unique bond with a miniature Dachshund dog Milo.
The pair is inseparable ever since the cat was a cub.
Bonedigger, a 500 lb male lion rarely leaves his furry Dachshund 8 year old friend Milo. The two are inseparable at G.W. Exotic Animal Park in Wynnewood, Oklahoma. Bonedigger was and has also struck up an unusual bond with zookeeper John Reinke, who lost both of his legs following a bungee jump accident.
When Milo and two other five-year old wiener dogs, Bullet and Angel, sensed that the lion was disabled they sought to comfort and protect him. Now Bonedigger and his pack of dogs cuddle, feast on raw meat and play in the grounds together.
Mr Reinke, who works at the zoo witnessed the bond develop between the unlikely duo.
In a statement for daily mail he said: ‘This friendship between an 11 pound wiener dog and a 500 pound lion is the only of it’s kind in the world ever seen. Milo does his best to copy Bonedigger when the lion tries puffing to communicate with other lions in the park , he finishes the statement.
